Webinar: Hanseatic Science Cloud – European sovereignty over data management processes

With an ambition to lessen the reliance on non-European cloud providers and to ensure European sovereignty over data management processes, Anders Sjöström and Emma-Lisa Hansson have initiated a HALOS project to investigate the feasibility of creating a cross-border cloud-based analysis platform.

This project has a manageable scope involving users of the large-scale research facilities serviced by HALOS and it could serve as a pillar for HALOS 2.0. Once Sjöström and Hansson have successfully created a basis for secure, fast and sustainable transfer of large data sets on this smaller scale, the model could be used as a basis for a pan-European cloud solution.

In this webinar, Anders Sjöström and Emma-Lisa Hansson will address practicalities such as how they intend to work on the implementation of Hanseatic Science Cloud and more general questions such as what benefits the Hanseatic Science Cloud implies for researchers as individual users.
